As we look forward to your arrival here at Geneseo, we thought we’d pass along some info sourced from current students about things that may be on your mind.

Life on campus

Whether you’re an early bird or a night owl, there’s always something to do—so much so that students say it can be hard to pick what to do. The library and the gym have extensive hours to accommodate varying schedules.

Some favorite spots on campus:

  • Milne Library and the views out its huge windows overlooking the valley
  • Books & Bites café in Milne
  • The Halal Shack
  • Fireside Lounge on the third floor of the student union, with comfy couches
  • Sitting outside on the College Green—the campus WiFi is available there
  • The hockey rink late at night, playing broomball
  • The gazebo, especially at sunset

Food

Students rave that a wide variety of food options as well as coffee, smoothies, and energy drinks are all easy to get anywhere on campus, any time of day, including through many vending machines.

Dietary restrictions are easy to accommodate, with items clearly labeled as vegetarian, vegan, gluten free, dairy free, etc. A nutritionist is available on campus.

Students especially love that the on-campus Starbucks is connected to their meal plan and that many campus dining locations offer mobile ordering.

Getting Around

First-year students are allowed to have cars on campus. But it’s easy to get around without one. You’ll have free bus access with your student ID, into the and into , which is about a half-hour away.

The picturesque Village is easily walkable, with its Main Street right next to campus. Students say it feels like an extension of campus.

A few favorite spots in the Village include , , , and .

Finding your community

For those living on campus, the roommate questionnaire from Residence Life helps pair you with someone likeminded.

It’s easy to get help for any needs that come up: from your resident assistant, the health center, LGBTQ+ resources, and more—listed on the back of your student ID. Clothing swap events offer new-to-you options without spending. The Knights’ Harvest pantry ensures access to basic food and hygiene essentials, no questions asked.

Some graduating seniors’ top advice: Remember that it’s new to everyone else at the same time. Get involved in extracurriculars, go into the Village, talk with people. Put yourself out there, and it’s going to work out.

We can’t wait to welcome you here!
