Why it matters

Attending one of the Career Design Center’s signature in person events on campus will provide you with a space to learn about a range of internship, job, and community engagement opportunities in addition to the opportunity to network with employers and alumni. By attending these events as a first-year student, you will learn what they entail and build experience to approach these opportunities with more confidence each time you attend.

Instructions

1. Learn about and register for upcoming events using the First Year Milestones Collection in Handshake. Log into → Click Events (left menu) → Under ºÚÁÏÍø Collections, select First Year Milestones
2. Events include:
   1. Community Engagement & Internship Fair
   2. School of Business Career Expo
   3. Graduate School Fair
   4. LEAP Day
   5. Job Fair Boot Camp
   6. Spring Internship and Job Fair
   7. Applied Learning Showcase

First-Year Milestones Submission Instructions

1. Complete the .
2. Indicate which Signature Career Event you attended.
3. Upload a photo of you at the event or a screenshot that you had been checked in.
4. Respond to the following reflection question. Please keep your response to about one paragraph, 100-200 words.
   After attending this event, what is one insight you gained and one action you plan to take to continue exploring your career interests.
5. Your submission will be reviewed, and you will receive a notification once the milestone has been approved.
