Why it matters
A professional photo helps you present yourself confidently online and creates a positive first impression with employers and professional contacts.
Instructions
- Visit the Iris Photobooth located in the Career Design Center (Erwin Hall 116). No appointment is necessary.
- The photobooth is available Monday – Friday from 9:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m. whenever the Career Design Center is open.
- Take several professional headshots and choose your favorite image.
- Download your selected photo.
- Update your and profile with your new professional headshot.
Tips for a Great Headshot
- Wear clothing you would feel comfortable wearing to an interview or networking event.
- Smile naturally and look directly at the camera.
- Choose a clean, uncluttered background (provided by the Iris Photobooth).
First-Year Milestones Submission Instructions:
- Complete the .
- Upload one of the following: a screenshot of your updated LinkedIn profile with your new headshot, a screenshot of your updated Handshake profile with your new headshot or the photo itself from the Iris Photobooth.
- Respond to the following reflection question. Please keep your response to about one paragraph, 100-200 words.
Reflect on the importance of having a professional photo. How will you use it to present yourself professionally and support your future career opportunities? - Your submission will be reviewed, and you will receive a notification once the milestone has been approved.
