First-Year Career Milestones – Apply for Funding for Career Exploration
Why it matters
Applying for a Career Exploration Award provides opportunities for you to explore career areas of interest. This Award seeks to encourage students to envision many possibilities for their futures. Career exploration can be any activity that allows students to engage their curiosities and try things out as they make decisions about what may come next for them. It involves learning about yourself as well as career possibilities to provide clarity around interests, goals, and aspirations.
Examples of funding requests:
- Workshops (i.e. a writer鈥檚 workshop)
- Job shadowing
- Site visits
- Informational interviews
- Professional conferences
- Leadership training
- Research
- International experience
- Self assessment/reflection tools (i.e. CliftonStrengths, Designing Your Life Workbook, Roadmap by Roadtrip Nation, etc.)
- Certification courses or enrolling in skill boot camps, like coding
- Teaching English to elementary students abroad
- Participating in a community or service project
- Volunteering
- Capturing a learning experience as a creative endeavor like a website or podcast
