Cornell is a professional singer, stage performer, and voice teacher with more than 20 years experience performing in concerts, operas, and musicals, as well as teaching voice on the college level. She earned degrees in vocal performance from Carnegie Mellon University and from Stony Brook University and then began performing nationally. She has taught most notably at Russell Sage College, Carnegie Mellon University, as well as in the music, musical theatre, and commercial music departments at Seton Hill University.
Cornell enjoys using her experience as a performer to instill real-world skills in her lessons. In addition to her career in the arts, she is a proud mentor and "Big Sis" through Big Brothers Big Sisters since 2010 and enjoys making her community a more welcoming place through volunteering and advocacy.
In 2025 Cornell joined the teaching faculty at the , an opera and musical theatre training festival. While in South France, Cornell also portrayed the role of CARMEN with The Opera Bastide alongside emerging artists from around the globe.
