First-Year Career Milestones – Complete a Self Assessment
Self-reflection lays an important foundation for exploring majors and careers. By understanding your strengths, interests, values, personality, and skills, you can learn how these may align with potential career paths. This self-knowledge and reflection will also help you advocate for yourself throughout your career.
Complete at least one of the following Self Assessments during your first year.
- Focus 2
One of the biggest questions many first-year students face is, “What should I major in?” or “What career is right for me?” The Focus 2 Career Assessment helps students answer these questions by providing personalized information about their interests, values, personality, skills, and career preferences. Completing the assessment early in college allows students to make more informed decisions about their education and career path while building the career readiness skills employers value. - CliftonStrengths
The CliftonStrengths assessment is an online assessment that identifies a person’s natural patterns of thinking, feeling, and behaving. Rather than focusing on weaknesses, the assessment identifies an individual’s greatest talents. Students receive a personalized report highlighting their top strengths and descriptions of how those strengths show up in their daily lives.
